THE FUTURE

This section will be kept deliberately brief and abstract since it is not possible to know precisely how Russia's ray and astrological energies will precipitate in the future owing to the factor of human free will. It is possible to outline what seem to be the broad plans of the nation's soul, knowing something of its purposes and psychological qualities and drawing on some of the information given out by the Tibetan master, Djwhal Khul through A.A. Bailey's writings.

The Nation

A hologram is an image in which the whole is written into each of the parts, just as the genetic information for the entire body is encoded in each cell. If the world is viewed as a hologram, then each part of the planetary life can be seen to reflect in some way the whole: the microcosm reflects the macrocosm, as above, so below. So the nations of the world may be seen as anatomical areas of the planetary body, focalising and emphasising certain ray, astrological and psychological influences within the planetary psyche; performing certain functions within the whole in terms of anchoring energies of a reconstructive or destructive nature, reflecting conflicts, and esoteric/exoteric group issues of a specific or general nature.

Russia is particularly interesting at this time from the angle of humanity because she comes under the influence of both the outgoing 6th ray and the incoming 7th ray, and the astrological signs of Aquarius and Leo, which form two of the four arms of the fixed cross of discipleship. She therefore symbolises the world Arjuna or spiritual aspirant in a very special sense, mirroring many of humanity’s current conflicts and opportunities.

In tune with its 7th ray soul Russia's purpose is connected with discovering and giving expression to the spiritual law and order underlying the surface chaos and detailed complexity of human living. It has an inner commitment to the spiritual magic of relating the soul and its inner pattern to the form life of the nation. This commitment may be expressed through the promotion of cooperative group endeavor, group living and consciousness, the respect for human rights and relationship that will be keynotes of the Aquarian Age. A group life can be fostered that recognises the contribution and creative individuality of each unit and attempts to harmonise and blend the creative contributions of all thus channelling correctly the 7th ray and Aquarian energy, qualified by selfless service and humanitarian awareness. An appreciation of diversity and individuality, flexibility and balance are needed to offset the 7th ray tendency to rigidity, crystallisation, routinisation, materialism and excessive group conformity. A sensitivity to human need and freedom is necessary to offset some of the more dangerously inflexible aspects of the Aquarian shadow. The Leo personality with its drive towards self-discovery and theme of sensitivity can facilitate the emergence of the nation into an era of improved group relationships both within the nations and as part of the world of nations. The Aquarius-Leo combination is in the long run a most humanitarian and non-destructive combination once the most selfish, materialistic and cruel aspects of its shadow are overcome. The soul of the nation may express through the creation, restructuring and reforming of organisations, institutions and group organisms dedicated to grounding the inner vision and lightof the nation, and that remain flexible enough to adapt to the changing vision and needs and methods of an intelligent and creative people.

The nation, given its energy to synthesise, unify and integrate can employ this energy to good end as long as the process is not enforced but is a natural outcome of political, social and economic planning in tune with the spiritual will of the people and a sensitivity to the relationship of all the parts to one another and the greater whole. The national planning, shaping, reforming and development process needs a measure of decentralisation, and a dynamic and progressive balance between the individual and the group, to be in tune with the 7th ray method of group working. The 7th ray confers the power to plan and organise, to manifest and work upon the material plane, the sense of sythesis and the ability to work at the level of the smallest details, the power to perfect the form; so while the economic crisis is severe, the nation has access to the energy it needs to bring economic order out of chaos.

The 7th ray sense of order should come from an internal acknowledgement of right ways of relating and the principles of right government rather than an externally imposed authority wielding power to “keep the people in line”. The 7th ray soul can impose the order and rhythm of the higher self on the personality, helping it to eliminate its tendency to ideological fanaticism, emotional imbalance, narrow-mindedness, intolerance, and militarism; and to develop confidence, goodwill and reason along with a spiritual devotion to human welfare. The constant change and movement, the heights and depths of the spiritual life experienced by the native of the sign of Aquarius are also ultimately conducive to greater inner stability and flexibility in the face of the sometimes chaotic appearance of world and social events. Aquarian energy will facilitate the move from the blind obedience to authority of the past to active cooperation with the purpose and Plan and unfolding will. Leo energy focussed through the personality will promote self-mastery and government, right assertion and creative self-expression. The Taurus, soul ruler of Moscow will facilitate access to and knowledge of the will, purpose and Plan with its 1st ray energy line: 5th ray through Venus, 1st ray through Vulcan, 3rd ray through earth. Through this energy combination, in time Russia will fashion a government that will more truly reflect the will of the people and the good of the greater whole.

The energies of the magician archetype, the occult use of the power of speech and the printed word through the various public media need to focus on enhancing the good of all and the freeing up of awareness rather than imprisoning it by ideas or emotional bias or organisational structures.

Russia’s 7/6 ray combination fosters a continuing devotion to a spiritual culture, political cause, vision and reformation, to the spiritualisation of all facets of life, an enthusiastic dedication to the grounding of the emerging pattern of the national life and psyche. The 7th ray and Aquarian energy can combine to create a very powerful spiritual and humanitarian influence on the life and consciousness of the nation fostering a broader understanding of the nature of the spiritual dimension, emphasising its connectedness with the whole of life in all its diversity whether its presence be known in the midst of human rights issues, religious aspiration, the field of scientific discovery or the just distribution of the nation’s resources.

The spiritual motto is “I link two ways.” Russia’s spiritual purpose is connected with the linking of east and west, of religion and science, of spiritual aspiration and understanding with an ability to relate will, love and intelligence to the immediate need, and the capacity to materialise the vision coupled with the sanctity, balance and purity required to glimpse the inner vision and Plan.

Planetary Synthesis

While Bailey (1949) notes that “Russia is as yet embryonic and her part lies more in the East than in the West, provided she follows the indicated lines....Her real function in the comity of nations lies far ahead when the Aquarian Age is flourishing and the Leo control of the Russian personality has been offset” (p. 85-6), there is no time like the present in which to make the effort to foster internationalism and the cooperative spirit amongst the nations of the world.

According to the Tibetan “there are three great fusing energies or vital centres present upon our planet:
a. Russia, fusing and blending eastern Europe and western and northern Asia.
b. The Unites States (and later South America) fusing and blending central and western Europe and the entire Western hemisphere.
c. The British Empire, fusing and blending races and men throughout the entire world.” (Bailey, 1951, p. 530)

These 3 nations will sound the keynote of human living “because they are in a position to fuse and blend the many types, because they are far-visioned in their world purpose, because they are not basically selfish in their intent, and because the government of the peoples reaches down into the depths of each nation and is fundamentally for the people.” (Bailey, 1951, p. 529-30)

“In connection with all the three Great Powers—the USSR, the USA and the UK—certain major conflicts are being specifically precipitated; these will fundamentally affect the destiny of humanity. These 3 nations constitute three points of a most potent world triangle of energy, and once there is a free circulation and a true understanding established between them, then world peace will be assured and the Christ can come. This understanding and this free harmony (if I may use such a term) will come as the result of each of the three Nations arriving at a real measure of internal harmony as a result of their own particular conflict, and then moving forward in an effort to harmonise with each other and the rest of the world....

“The USSR is also seeking to blend and unite into one great national project many diverse nations and races—European and Asiatic—and the effort is still largely embryonic. In Russia a world ideology is being wrought out which (when proven) can be presented to the world as a model system; this, however, will not come as a result of dictatorship, nor can it be presented aggressively to the world.” (Bailey, 1960, p. 630, 632)

Russia represents the 3rd aspect (CREATIVE INTELLIGENCE) of the triangle between UK, USA and USSR: the right use of mind, and intelligence (Bailey, 1960, p. 632) hence its underlying purpose relates also to education. Eventually this orientation might lead to the development of an educational philosophy based on the recognition of the existence of the soul and its potential, and educational methods directed to the evocation of the soul, relating the individual to the group and larger whole and offering training in right receptivity to and interpretation of the archetypal energies and ideas influencing consciousness. The 7/6 ray combination confers the capacity to use enthusiasm and devotion. The 7th ray energy which gives the capacity to sense the pattern of the whole and of how the parts within the whole might best be related in order to actualise the potential of each and all could be well utilized in the educational process. The sense of synthesis and univerality can be cultivated with a view to establishing right relationship between individuals and groups within the nation, internationally and globally.
